Find Your "Kink" And Start Growing On Etsy

What is a "kink"

Know when you are watering your garden and the hose suddenly stops shooting out water? Do you immediately go to home depo, call the water repair guys? Probably not.

Most people will follow the hose line till they see the "kink" in the hose. They fix that part of the hose and life goes back to normal!

Your Etsy shop is the SAME way. There is a kink. You, as the business owner, need to learn the skill to find that "kink" and focus your energy on it till the sales start flowing.

Don't get lost in a sea of problems.

As I have been meeting with Etsy shop owners one on one (which you can get here - https://www.growmyetsyshop.com/growth-plan_ ) I have seen a common problem. That Etsy Shop owners run to the newest information they hear because they think its going to solve their problems.

The truth is, doing a bunch of day projects to suddenly solve your SEO, or make customers come back over and over again just wont stick long.

What actually needs to happen is that you need to lock in on exactly what number (or data point ) is holding you back the most and spend a MONTH working on that.

Here is why I recommend a month.

A month is enough time that you can start to see the effects of what you are doing. By looking at day to day data, you will never get a truly accurate number if what you are doing is right.

When people make decisions day to day, they get caught in the "snip snap."

Working with data month to month lets you see your true results.

How to find your Kink

Finding your kink is not as hard as it may seem to be. Here are just a few examples.

If you are not getting any views to your store. Check your keywords. Are there other shops with sales in those keywords? Are you able to be seen. If not.. You have an SEO problem.

That was easy, right?

Let's step it up. What if you are found in those keywords?

What if you are seen in those keywords? Then what? Should you be spending your time on your SEO? .. No..

That is usually a picture issue. You are being seen but you can't get people to click. So instead of spending your time switching tags, instead of up your photos. Because your keywords are already rockin, you should see an instant bump in traffic!

Keep on "Kinking" ...

Here is the beautiful thing about fixing kinks. Once you fix one, you can actually find the next one much easier.

Let's say you fix your pictures and now you are getting more traffic.. but no sales.

Do you have an SEO problem? Nope.

Do you have a picture problem? Nope.

What about pricing? Nope (people are clicking remember..)

The problem is usually that you do not do a good enough job selling your product once they come to your listing.

You are not speaking to their pain or helping them solve an issue. You are not connecting emotionally with them and why they are there to buy. Maybe you don't paint a picture clear enough to justify the purchase. I would spend time in your description really getting it set up to convert and then watch the data and see what you get.

Become a "Kinky"

When you start to focus your time around the kinks, instead of around buzz words you not only solve direct issues, but those direct issues become solved.

Which means your store will benefit week after week, month after month because of the effort you put into your store.

This is how you obtain true growth!
